Meet Simon – Owner, Producer, Broadcaster

If you’ve watched a Play-By-Play telecast, chances are you’ve heard Simon’s voice.  A seasoned announcer and producer of over 700 telecasts in his career, Simon discovered his passion for sports broadcasting in high school and has since made it his life goal to constantly live the excitement of live sporting events.  In addition to his duties operating PBPP, Simon can also be heard as a broadcast voice on the Ivy League Network for the Princeton University Tigers.  He has performed on-air work for various other organizations including: One-Up Sports, the Atlantic 10 Network, and the Big 10 Network.

Simon’s career can be traced back the first game he broadcast – a basketball game for the broadcasting club at Upper Dublin High School.  He went on to follow in the footsteps of so many successful sports broadcasters by attending the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University.  While in college, Simon gained valuable internship experience by working with respected Philadelphia media outlets such as Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia (now NBC Sports), and sports talk 97.5 The Fanatic.  He had the privilege of covering Jim Boeheim’s Syracuse Orange as a student reporter – his most memorable moment being mocked by the legend in a post-game press conference (he wasn’t the only student mocked by Boeheim).  Simon graduated from Syracuse with a degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2012.

Upon graduation, Simon’s dreams of being a sports broadcaster took him to Minot, North Dakota where he was hired by the BEK Sports Network as a play-by-play announcer and producer.  It was during the long cold hours of his broadcast days in North Dakota that Simon actually learned what it took to be a broadcast professional.  He spent three years with BEK gaining invaluable experience working a massive workload of games in a fully-equipped broadcast trailer.  Simon’s experience in North Dakota granted him a unique skillset which is crucial to his work at PBPP.

Simon has also had the privilege of helping to produce nationally-televised events.  He’s worked with FOX Sports crews during its coverage of both FOX Saturday Baseball and the 2014 MLB All-Star Game in Minneapolis.  He also worked on the crew of ESPN College Gameday when it came to Fargo, ND.

Simon launched Play-By-Play Productions in February of 2017 on the heels of working for about three years as the Executive Producer of the Strive Network.  His obvious dedication, passion, and knowledge for quality production allowed him to gain the trust of his clients and ultimately provide him the flexibility to start a company of his own.

If he’s not working a game he is probably watching one.  A native of the Philadelphia area, Simon is a passionate fan of the Eagles, 76ers, Flyers, and Phillies.  In addition to sporting events, he also very much enjoys seeing live music.
